You’ve heard me talk about the big dream for Maris Sustainable Skincare the commitment to understanding the unique needs of Tanzanian skin, the deep dive into market complexities, and the constant battle against self-doubt and external whispers. That foundational research is absolutely crucial, and it’s ongoing. But what does "ongoing" actually look like, beyond the spreadsheets and surveys? Well, it looks a lot like learning, experimenting, and often, juggling a whole lot of passion-fueled chaos!

Right now, my days are a vibrant mix of theoretical study and very real, very hands-on creation. I’m incredibly fortunate to be learning the art of cosmetic product making from a truly gifted local Malaysian artisan. This isn't just about following recipes; it's an immersive apprenticeship into the philosophy of homemade, organic, natural, and handcrafted products. She’s teaching me the nuances of working with raw ingredients, understanding their properties, and blending them with a touch that feels both scientific and deeply intuitive. From her, I'm not just picking up techniques; I'm absorbing a reverence for the process, a deep respect for what nature provides, and the meticulous care that goes into creating something truly beneficial from scratch. I’m learning so many different things from her – the subtle art of emulsions, the power of botanical extracts, how to achieve stability without harsh chemicals, and the magic of infusing natural goodness into every batch. And honestly, I intend to learn so much more; it feels like just the beginning of truly understanding how to bring products to life in a way that aligns perfectly with Maris's vision.

Complementing this practical artistry, I’ve also plunged into the academic side of the beauty world. I’m currently deep into an online course offered by Olay through Coursera. This program is a fantastic blend of cosmetic science, entrepreneurship, and cosmetic formulation. It’s been fascinating to connect the practical wisdom I'm gaining from the artisan with the rigorous scientific principles taught by leading experts. Understanding the "why" behind ingredient interactions, delving into skin biology at a molecular level, and learning the entrepreneurial frameworks for building a sustainable business – it’s all coming together. I haven’t completed this course yet, but every module reinforces the incredible complexity and potential of truly informed product development. It’s adding a robust layer of scientific understanding to the intuitive craft I'm mastering.

And the learning journey doesn't stop there. This October, I’m incredibly excited to embark on what’s called the International Organic Skincare Entrepreneurial Program. This is a significant step for me. My core desire is to deepen my knowledge, refine my skills, and expand my understanding of the organic skincare space on a global level. It's about bridging the gap between local artisan wisdom and international best practices, ensuring that whatever Maris eventually brings to life is not only authentically Tanzanian but also globally excellent. Every piece of learning, every new certification, every hour spent in labs or with artisans, is a conscious investment in building the most robust foundation possible for this dream.

It might sound like a lot and it definitely is! Balancing these intensive personal projects with my university studies is a constant act of juggling. There are days, I won't lie, when it gets truly overwhelming. Moments where I look at my schedule, my to-do list, and feel a surge of panic. But even in those moments, I find a deep well of resilience. I keep pushing. I find these "battles," these challenges, incredibly rewarding. They’re not just obstacles; they’re opportunities to prove to myself how much I can handle, how dedicated I truly am, and how much this dream means to me. It's a daily test of my commitment, and every time I push through, I feel stronger, more capable, and even more determined.

So yes, while the research continues to guide our understanding of the Tanzanian skincare landscape, I’m also diving headfirst into the practicalities of learning how to create, formulate, and bring truly thoughtful products into existence. This is my journey right now a continuous cycle of learning, doing, and growing, driven by an unshakeable belief in the vision for Maris Sustainable Skincare.
